WE TALK TO GOD THROUGH PRAYER

Praises, Joys and Concerns

Pastoral Prayer and Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination

Pastor:    We hunger for your word, O God. We long to be nourished by what you would say to us today in the Scriptures of old. Yet as the word is read, we confess our minds wander from the lakeside to our own plans for the day; from the food Christ provides to our own menus and grocery lists. So, keep us alert, we pray, to your word and let us hear with our ears and listen with our minds and our hearts open to a familiar ancient story.

People:  Grant us the grace to listen as though hearing this miracle for the very first time. We pray this in the one who makes all things possible, Jesus the Christ. Amen.
